Many of you may not have even heard of this new hair smoothing process yet. I know I hadn’t heard of it yet when I saw it in the pamphlet of services offered by an upscale hair salon located near me (I’m in Ohio by the way, in the Greater Cleveland area). So, I looked it up on the internet out of curiousity to see what it was. Turns out, the process is so new, that there wasn’t even much information about the cold smoothing process yet on the internet for me to feed my sudden urge for a new hair do!
What I did learn is that cold smoothing is a hair smoothing system for people with curly hair who don’t want to totally give up all their wave and curl, but also do not want the frizz that often times goes along with curls.
Since I’ve had the Japanese straightening process done on my hair twice, I decided that I would like more versatility. Japanese straightening is great, don’t get me wrong. It is the most maintenance free hair you’ll ever have, but sometimes, just sometimes, I craved the body and wave that my hair used to have – I just thought I was stuck because when I had body and wave, I also had WAY TOO MUCH FRIZZ.
So, I’m hoping this new hair process is my latest Godsend.
I will keep you all posted (tomorrow) on how the process went, and how my hair looks! Full review of cold smoothing coming up….
TEETH WHITENING 101
Ok, here goes my first product review, and it’s a beauty product that’s also an every day necessity (at least in my book, it gives you fresh breath much longer than brushing alone) – mouthwash. The new Listerine Whitening Mouthwash works really well for me. I’ve been using it for about a week, and have noticed a definite whitening action on my teeth.
The taste is a little intense – it actually tastes just like a big halls cough drop, which may not appeal to everyone, but I do notice because of this intensity my breath stays fresh MUCH longer throughout the day. Since you gargle with this whitening mouthwash BEFORE you brush your teeth, what it does is get all the stains “loosened up” for you tooth brush and then when you brush, you’re actually lifting stains with the help of the mouthwash.
TIP 1 for tooth whitening : I gargle with this Listerine Whitening Mouthwash for about two minutes instead of the recommended one minute before I brush. I notice this has made a difference in the intensity of my teeth whitening. I also use a whitening toothpaste.
TIP 2 for teeth whitening: When using a whitening toothpaste, make sure you start off with a DRY toothbrush, instead of running it under the water before you apply the toothpaste. This was a tip I learned from a makeup counter assistant way back when EpiSmile was the first tooth whitener to be marketed. And, boy it does make a difference. You are giving the paste the ability to apply much more friction and sloughing action on the stains this way.
TIP 3 for teeth whitening : You may want to invest in a good new automatic (batter powered) toothbrush. Toothbrushes such as Sonicare really give you the edge in whitening and high polish. They also help to keep your gums healthy by not applying too much pressure, which is what we tend to do when brushing our teeth. They also get between the teeth much better and make your teeth feel ten times cleaner than a regular “manual” toothbrush.
As I said, welcome to MyBeautySpace.com, my personal weblog and journal of my beauty trials and tribulations. I’ve been there, done that in the world of beauty. What type of beauty products have I tried? Jeez, everything from cellulite rollers to tons of different hair dyes, to Japanese straigtening, to microdermabrasion, to soft light lasers for my skin and a myriad of lip plumpers for my lips…..Need I say more?
Needless to say, I have quite a stockpile of beauty products in my skin care, body care and hair care arsenals. Some of these products worked, and some didn’t. I’ll tell you my personal experiences with various beauty treatments, and you can decide for yourself whether you want to try them!
Happy reading, and don’t forget to bookmark me, I try something new ALL THE TIME, so I’ll be updating you frequently.
