Review : Paul Mitchell Thicken Up Extra Body Hair Styling Liquid

Filed under: Hair Care — ProductAddiction @ 1:36 pm

Now for another hair care product review.  This time it’s on a product that promises bigger sexier hair with use, instead of my usual reviews, which are products to tame the hair down and make it “smaller” and smoother.  This Paul Mitchell hair care product comes in a generously sized bottle (6.8 fluid ounces) that is skinny and tall and has a purple and opaque white color scheme.

It’s called “Thicken Up” and is described as a “Styling Liquid”.  The consistency is a thick gel like substance.  I used the product about the size of a dime in my hair after I had towel dried it and rubbed it really well all throughout.  The product is for all hair types and claims to provide flexible body and very high shine.  It’s formulated with “thickening conditioners and UV protection”.

It says you can also use it on dry hair, but I’m not so sure how that would work.  Probably if you have a shorter piecier hairstyle, it would allow you to have the piecey, choppy look a lot more if you put it in dry.

I liked this product a lot.  It allowed me to style my hair looking bigger, with more body, but it didn’t make it frizzy.  It did seem to change the consistency of my hair a bit, it made it feel a bit stiffer to the touch, which I didn’t like, but the appearance was pretty cool looking.  It held my curls all day (I put large curls in with a 1 1/2 inch barrel curling iron to give it some oomph).

Incidentally, I got a lot of compliments on my hair the day I used it. So, this is a good thing!
