I tried the Banana Boat self tanner, which actually gave me pretty good color. Unfortunately, my legs broke out in tiny little bumps all over, which itched like crazy. I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I tried it again.
Same thing happened – nice color, but same allergic reaction. I read the ingredients label to see if I could figure it out, but I didn’t see any common allergens in it such as PABA or anything, so I’m at a loss. It’s a shame too, because it rubbed in nicely and gave a nice natural color.
I too have allergic reactions to self tanners.
Horrible iching with tiny bumps. I have tried at least 4 different brands. They all share a common ingredient.
I too have had an allergic reaction to every self-tanner that I have tried. In reaserching on-line it sounds like it is definetely the ingredient “DHA”. I cannot find a self-tanner that doesn’t have that ingredient listed. It is so frustrating because I look so much better with a tan…..I am really white and do not want to go back to tanning beds. I wonder if mixing the self-tanner with regular lotion might tone down the strength of the ingredient, I am willing to try it. My legs itched so bad that I had to see a Dermatologist.
Ual… Everytime I travel to the beaches for the last 6 years I have been having this
horrible rash. I spent a fortune with doctos, needless to mention that I always destry my vacation.
At first, I thought it could be the fish, but after many try-outs, my dermatologist came to the conclusion that
the problem is the Banana Boat products. It is horrible! I have taken pictures of my rash. It
starts with small bumps, and them, it looks like they spread and becomes an elevated big bump.
It itches and burn! I hate it!
At least, now I know that Banana Boat is the one that gives me this horrible rash.
