Botox Causing Deaths?

Filed under: Wrinkle Creams/Anti Aging, Beauty News — ProductAddiction @ 7:19 am

I read a startling article just a few days ago about how consumer advocates are calling for the Botox cosmetic product to place a serious warning on their product in a “black box” warning that the product may cause serious injury, up to and including death when used.

It was not clear by the article if the deaths that were uncovered were due to botox injection for cosmetic purposes or for medical purposes though, so I wouldn’t want to cause undue fear in those that may use it as a cosmetic facial fixer, but you should be aware nonetheless and ask your doctor questions about it before you get anything else done.

The article was about how there had been several deaths reported in individuals where the botox anti aging and medical product were injected (again, we don’t know if it was cosmetic or medical though).  Apparently in these cases, the botulism that makes Botox work it’s magic, worked it’s way in to the blood stream and the system where it poisoned or paralyzed these patients, and even caused death.

Botulism, the basis of which the Botox facial and medical anti aging and wrinkle prevention treatment works, is a toxin when introduced directly into the blood stream and to various parts of the body, but when it is injected into the facial muscles correctly, it either freezes them, or causes them to relax dramatically, reducing the wrinkles that are visible on the face, and also helping to prevent further hallmarks of aging like crows feet, forehead lines and any other “expressive” types of wrinkles.

Just a heads up, of course, do your own research as well, but this was in the news just a few days ago so you should be able to get more info on it if you are concerned.
