Best Colored Contacts for Dark Eyes
I’ve tried many colored contacts in my days. I’ve worn contacts since the age of 13 years old. I remember how excited I was to finally ditch what I perceived at the time as “nerdy” glasses, and let my face shine through, so people could see the real me, not always me hidden behind my rather thick prescription lenses. I finally got my wish when, for my thirteenth birthday, my mom finally caved in and took me to the optometrist’s office to get contacts for the first time.
I remember how excited I was to sit in the doctors chair and be fitted for them. I also remember the nice lady who showed me how to put them in and how I could and could not apply makeup with my new contacts. This was when soft lenses were really becoming popular, and hard lenses were being phased out due to their uncomfortable nature. I really wanted to try colored contact lenses back then, but boy oh boy, you think some of the lenses that are colored now look fake, you should see the ones that looked like you were from another planet when they first started making them.
There are still some really phony looking colored contacts out there today, and I’ve tried some of them, but thanks to technology and our ever evolving techniques as tweaking inventions, we have some pretty good, natural looking colored contacts that are opaque and work well at changing even the the darkest brown eyes to a pale blue, a deep green or even a grey or violet color if you wish. Aside from teeth whitening, changing the color of your eyes can bring about subtle changes to your appearance that are natural changes you can make easily.
I’ve tried many as I said, and some of the ones I tried without too much success were the Ciba Vision ones, the Bausch and Lomb Freshlooks, and another brand that was Cooper Vision I believe. None of them looked convincing, no matter what prescription I got, and no matter what, the contacts always made my naturally darker brown eyes barely even change color, or they made me look like I should put a Halloween costume on – too ethereal, too fake, and too downright spooky and unnatural in my opinion.
So, I was surfing the net one day and I finally found some colored contact that were nonprescription, so I figured I could wear them with my stylish glasses once in a while for a nice change of pace, called Waicon.
You buy them in a one size fits all type of thing, but they are really comfortable, and believe me, most contacts to me are not all that comfortable. there are some people who feel that colored contacts that are not exactly fitted to your eye may be dangerous over the long haul, so you may want to contact your physician if you try them out, but this is usually due to the fact that contacts are poorly fitted, and I did not have any problems with the fit of these, nor did I intend to even wear them more than once a week, so I figured for me personally the risk was minimal.
I tried the Waicon colored contacts for dark eyes (they are very opaque, which is what I think makes them change even the darkest eyes to a lovely, natural looking yet exotic color) in two colors, grey and green. I loved both, but I’d have to say that the green ones are a little less of a change, while the grey ones are very cool looking. They are just enough to make you look again, and maybe enough for someone who knows you well to look at you and notice “something” is different, but they may not be able to tell right away because they are low key enough to not totally pop out at you as fake.
They’re sort of Angelina Jolie exotic – of course, minus the plump lips!
You can find some pictures of people before and after with these contacts in their eyes, and there is quite a striking difference in them I think. They price out at about seventy bucks a pair, at least when I bought mine that’s about what they were, but they’re totally worth it since they deliver on their promise of natural color transformation. They come in other colors too, but the grey I believe is the most popular, followed by the green, and I can see why since they are so naturally pretty and comfortable at the same time.
